| 内容記述 | This study aimed to clarify the temporal process by which young generation (aged 29 to 39) have alcohol-drinking experiences and give meaning to such experiences. Drinking experiences were compared between regular drinkers and people who rarely drink. This comparison yielded two findings. First, lifestyle changes accompanying the transition into the adult workforce influence the entrenchment of young generation's drinking habit. Two factors explaining drinking patterns were identified: When young generation drink at increasingly frequent intervals, they become increasingly amenable to solo-drinking. However, when young generation drink less frequently over time, they become more aware of non-drinking companions. Second, the results suggest that young generation give meaning to the experiences as follows: They initially perceive drinking as a life experience. Over time, they start perceiving drinking as an occasion in which they are conscious of their drinking companions, and then start perceiving it as an opportunity to make new friends or as an occasion to enjoy time alone. A different pattern was observed among young generation who now rarely drink After giving meaning to their drinking experiences, they perceived drinking as an occasion where they drink a moderate amount in company. Thus, perceptions of drinking vary by time; the meaning people give to drinking develops in the course of regular drinking. |
