体温感知により除圧面積を広げる素材を使用したマットレスBの体圧分散効果と寝心地を評価することを目的とし、成人女性5名に対し、一般的に使用されているマットレスAとの比較研究を行った。その結果、マットレスBは、マットレスAと比較して体圧分散効果に加えて寝心地が良いという利点を備えていた。このことから、マットレスBは、褥瘡予防環境整備という点で、より安全・安楽なマットレスとして、標準的使用の選択肢の一つとして加えることができると考える。 |

The purpose of this study was to compare the body pressure distribution and comfort level between two mattresses: a common mattress (mattress A) and a body pressure-reducing mattress (mattress B). The mattress B is made of a visco elastic polymer which is sensitive to the heat of a patient's body, causing it to redistribute pressure along the length of the body and thereby molding and cradling bony prominences. The subjects were five adult females. We found that body pressure distribution and comfort level were better in the mattress B. These results suggest that possibly including a mattress B as one of the standard choices in hospitals would help prevent pressure ulcers and be more comfortable for the patient. |
