We compared the response between changing position by the other (passive position changes) and that by self (active position changes). Twelve healthy males performed position changes from the supine position (15 min) to the sitting position with feet soles on the floor (17.5 min) [position change 1], and to the standing position (17.5 min) [position change 2] .They took 20 minutes resting time between passive and active position changes. Through the position changes, ECG, blood pressure (BP) and pulse wave were monitored. Heart rate variability (high frequency, low frequency/ high frequency) and baroreflex sensitivity were analyzed by coarse graining spectral analysis and sequential method respectively. On passive position changes at position change 2, heart rate & low frequency/ high frequency increased significantly and high frequency decreased significantly than hose on active position changes.
