| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to analyze the usage patterns of the open common spaces in the main building of Taiwa Campus of Miyagi University, focusing on the relationship between the distribution of staying behaviors and spatial and environmental factors. The study aims to evaluate usage trends and the factors influencing them. To this end, field observations were conducted on four floors of the main building. Across time slots including lectures, breaks, and lunchtime, the number of users, their attributes (such as whether they were alone or in groups), and we recorded staying behavior. We analyzed these data to characterize usage across floors and individual open common spaces. Additionally, environmental factors such as illuminance and noise level, and spatial factors such as visual enclosure and layout, were measured and analyzed in relation to user behavior. The results reveal differences in usage patterns across floors and between solo users and groups. Furthermore, a clear relationship was identified between staying behavior and spatial factors. These findings suggest that the underuse of certain open common spaces is strongly associated with spatial or environmental factors. This study contributes to understanding how spatial and environmental design influences user behavior in open common spaces. It provides valuable insights for improving or redeveloping campus spaces based on actual user needs and behavior patterns, supporting more effective and inclusive placemaking strategies. |
