In addition, qualitative data were collected through students' free-text responses to the questions: \"What makes you anxious about mastering basic nursing skills?\" and \"Why are you anxious about mastering basic nursing skills?\" The qualitative data were analyzed using an inductive qualitative approach.\n[Results]\nMore than 50% of the students reported feeling \"anxious\" about acquiring skills in eight specific items. The qualitative data yielded 610 codes, which were further organized into 25 subcategories and 4 overarching categories.\n[Conclusion]\nAlthough third-year students, who experienced the greatest restrictions on on-site training and exercises, showed higher anxiety levels in only two items, it cannot be concluded that the lack of on-site experience was the sole contributing factor.
