| 内容記述 | This study investigated freshmen students at Miyagi University using established measures such as the Connected to Nature (CN) scale and the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) scale to assess their affective closeness to nature and environmental attitudes. The survey was conducted in the context of Miyagi University’s campus and affiliated farm being certified as an Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECM) site by the Ministry of the Environment, with the aim of providing a basis for designing environmental education programs that make use of campus forests for students and local residents. In addition, participants were asked about their engagement in Pro-Environmental Behaviors (PEBs), preferences for animals, plants, and insects, concerns about global environmental issues and their own future, and demographic attributes such as gender. Correlation analyses were conducted between these variables and the CN and NEP scores. The results revealed the levels of students’ connectedness to nature and environmental attitudes, which serve as a foundation for developing educational programs. Significant positive correlations were observed between CN and NEP scores and PEBs, while significant negative correlations emerged between these scores and concerns about the environment and personal future. These findings suggest that environmental education programs utilizing campus nature may contribute to the promotion of PEBs and the enhancement of well-being among students and the broader community. |
