Based on the results of this study; we discuss efforts to maintain the Sendai Miso production area and brand, as well as future prospects.\nFirst to understand overall trends in the miso industry; various data on market size, miso consumption trends, raw material usage and exports were examined. Next, the actual state of the miso industry in Miyagi Prefecture was ascertained based on relevant data. The market is shrinking throughout the industry. However, members of the Miyagi Miso and Soy Sauce Industry Cooperative work to improve Sendai Miso's brand power and look toward exports to halt the shrinking market and product decline.\nMore than a few members of this cooperative purchase raw materials from the Miso Soy\nSauce Cooperative to produce miso. Only one of these companies produces its own raw\nmaterials, such as soya and rice, for miso production. In the miso industry as a whole, only a few companies produce their own raw materials materials; therefore, Company A's Sendai\nMiso is differentiated from its competitors.
