This was done as an activity of the 21^<st> century Center of Excellence Program \"Development of a Center of Excellence for Disaster Nursing in a Ubiquitous Society.\" Among the participants were 73 nurses from 15 hospitals and a maternity center in Miyagi Prefecture. In the first workshop, we provided lectures by using audiovisual materials on disaster nursing. We also had the participants work in groups to make sure they knew what to do in preparation for a disaster, and we asked them to exchange opinions too. In the second workshop, the participants were asked to talk about specifically what they had done in their medical institutions to prepare for a disaster, and to exchange opinions about the present conditions of preparedness and problems involved in preparing for a disaster. It is important that we continue to prepare for a disaster by addressing the issues raised in the
